Meet the Board: Cllr Kabeer Kher joins the Norfolk Business Board

We are delighted to welcome Cllr Kabeer Kher, Norfolk County Council's Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Agriculture, to the Norfolk Business Board.

Kabeer Kher

With a background spanning entrepreneurship, hospitality, financial services and property, Cllr Kher brings a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses across Norfolk. Having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs before building his own career in business leadership, he is passionate about supporting growth, creating opportunities and helping Norfolk achieve its full economic potential.

A key priority for Cllr Kher is changing perceptions of the county and ensuring that Norfolk's strengths are recognised both nationally and internationally. "Norfolk has a much fuller story to tell" he says. "While agriculture, agri-food, tourism and hospitality remain vital parts of the local economy, I am keen to shine a spotlight on the many innovative and ambitious businesses driving growth across a wide range of sectors."

That ambition aligns closely with the Norfolk Business Board's mission to support businesses, encourage collaboration and attract investment into the county.  "The Board is forward-thinking, growth-minded and brings together people who care deeply about the county's economic future," he says.

Looking ahead, Cllr Kher believes there is an opportunity not only to continue supporting start-ups and early-stage businesses, but also to strengthen support for established companies that are ready to scale and realise their full potential. He sees a strong role for local government in helping create the conditions for sustainable growth and investment.

Skills development is also high on his agenda. He is a strong advocate for apprenticeships and believes more can be done to raise awareness of the opportunities available to both employers and young people. Supporting businesses to access and develop talent will be critical to Norfolk's future success.

He is also excited by plans for what is set to become the largest innovation conference Norfolk has ever hosted, taking place at the Royal Norfolk Showground in September 2027. The event will showcase Norfolk's business strengths, encourage collaboration and help businesses connect with funding and investment opportunities.

"The Norfolk Business Board plays a critical role in championing our county and ensuring more people understand what Norfolk has to offer.  I am pleased to be part of the team telling the Norfolk story, both within the county and beyond it," Cllr Kher concludes.

We look forward to working with Cllr Kher and our fellow Board members to help Norfolk grow, attract investment, develop skills and unlock new opportunities for businesses and communities across the county.
